The Hillside Project

Hillside Centre

It is with great joy that we announce the completion of the purchase of Hillside Church (renamed ‘Hillside Centre’), a unique and historic ‘arts & crafts’ buildings that have become a pillar of the Chorleywood community.

We are now in the process of planning a complete refurbishment to enable us to restore and refresh the interior providing a unique space for youth outreach and the community groups who will be using this amazing space.

We would like to thank every one who have invested in prayer and invested financially in this exciting vision.

What is the vision for Hillside?

  • To enhance the effectiveness of Community Outreach to local residents and the surrounding villages.

  • To build ongoing connections with the many artistic, creative and musical groups that already use these buildings.

  • To deepen our partnership with the locally cherished and charity run Hillside Pre-school.

  • To create a centre of Youth Outreach as we develop our Youth Ministry here in the heart of the village.

What will we use the buildings for?

St Andrew’s Church are looking to invest in the future. Creating buildings for growth and focussing on Youth Ministry work. With this investment we are able to sow into a Centre of Youth Mission for Chorleywood and beyond.

In addition, there are various existing Community Groups that use the Hillside Church and its Buildings and we plan to continue supporting these groups; Chorleywood Choral Society, Connect Church and many others. We also see this building as a base for further Community Outreach.

Partnering with Hillside Pre-School

We are passionate to continue supporting Hillside Pre-School as a valuable and cherished resource within the Chorleywood community. We will continue to invest spiritually and practically into the life of the Pre-School for many years to come.

One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
And to seek him in his temple.

Psalm 27:4

Hillside Photo Gallery

This beautifully preserved Arts and Crafts Church was built in 1905 by the famous Architecht Herbert G.Ibberson. Elevated in a south facing spot with its iconic cupula dome shaped cap, seen below in photos captured throughout the four seasons.

Above the main door to the Church, embossed in the leadwork are the words “My house shall be called a house of prayer”. This building and its historic features will be in safe hands within the St Andrew’s management team.
