Chorleywood Corona Support Group

A short video profiling the work of CCSG since it was formed in March

WHO WE ARE

We are a group of parents from local Chorleywood Schools and Chorleywood People willing and able to help you during these challenging times.

HOW WE CAN HELP

We can pick up food shopping, prescriptions, run local errands and do our best to get hold of urgent supplies amongst our wide network. We are happy to purchase non-essential items too like flowers, chocolate, birthday cards. Most importantly, we can provide emotional comfort during these difficult times.

Please call us. We are in this together.

CCSG Volunteer Drivers Scheme

If you need transport to the Doctors or Hospital Appointment and live in the Chorleywood area you can call CCSG Drivers on 07872 903486 to check availability and book a volunteer driver.

We have been running a CCSG drivers scheme for elderly residents in the Chorleywood area that need transport to doctors or hospital appointments since the lockdown in March. Chorleywood Care (01923 284440 ), who previously ran a transport service unfortunately had to suspend their services as many of their drivers were in the vulnerable category.

We have around 15 registered CCSG drivers who are local residents willing and able to support their fellow neighbours. With the recent vaccine roll out we are keen to ensure others are aware of this free and safe service available.

This is a voluntary service and we take great care in providing clean and sanitized privately owned cars. All drivers and passengers MUST wear face masks and keep windows open for ventilation. If additional assistance is required with help getting in and out of the car gloves MUST be worn.

If you want to volunteer as a driver please get in touch with vanessa.rousseau@st-andrews.org.uk

All CCSG volunteers and passengers MUST wear face masks at all times.

Thank you for helping us spread more kindness this Season

Thank you to all our CCSG volunteers who have worked tirelessly since the first National lockdown back in March; supporting their local neighbours with shopping requests, prescription pickups and providing transport for hospital and doctor appointments.

During the Christmas season, thanks to the generosity of Lords at home who kindly donated £850 to CCSG, we have been able to spread some Christmas cheer and kindness across the village and our neighbouring town this season. The donation has enabled our volunteers to deliver Christmas community hampers, arts and crafts packs, treats and a small gift for vulnerable families in our surrounding area.

Lords Managing Director, Tilak Patel, was delighted to be able to offer proceeds from his Christmas sales "Local residents have come and supported Lords throughout the lockdown period and I was keen to give something back to the community, particularly in these very difficult times”.

Call & Collect Home Delivery Service

If you require shopping assistance and cannot get an online delivery you could use our Chorleywood Co-op call & collect home delivery service.

In partnership with Chorleywood Co-op we are running a “Call & Collect” home delivery service for the vulnerable and isolated. Place and pay for your order by ‘phone from 8am-11am. There is no need to register. Just be sure to connect with your street volunteer to arrange a suitable time for delivery.

CCSG Volunteers

To ensure we are robust and follow safeguarding principles, each of our volunteers has applied through a secure online registration process with proof of ID upload. Several CCSG volunteers have already been DBS checked and St Andrew’s have agreed to fund and process a DBS check to all volunteers, many of which have taken this up.

This is a Chorleywood community initiative that operates at street level. Local knowledge and our strong community network keeps us safe from undesirables. Please check the latest volunteer list for your street support. Please be aware of scams operating in our area and if you are in any doubt, please ask your volunteer for ID or call the central CCSG office on: 07872 903486.

If you would like to volunteer, please get in touch: vanessa.rousseau@st-andrews.org.uk

We are volunteers NOT medical professionals. For up to date medical advice please check the NHS website www.111.nhs.uk

How you can support CCSG financially

CCSG is offering support to vulnerable and isolated people and financially struggling families within the Wd3 community during Covid-19.  Your donation will help us to provide:

  • Supermarket Voucher Scheme to fund essential food, toiletries and cleaning items

  • Fresh fruit and vegetable food parcels

  • Essential baby supplies

  • Creative arts & craft boxes for vulnerable children

  • Senior Hampers with fruit and reading material

  • PPE equipment for volunteer drivers

To donate please click on the button below. St Andrew’s Church, a registered charity (ref.1130419), is administering this fund on behalf of CCSG and for expediency a previously dormant St Andrew’s account is being used. All funds donated will be allocated entirely to CCSG. If any funds remain at the end of the current crisis period these will be passed on to Rickmansworth Food Bank. Please note that Gift Aid is not eligible for this collection. Thank you for your donation!
