Last Call For Newcomers’ Breakfast

Saturday 11th September from 9.30am to 11am in the Sanctuary.  If you are new to the church and have not been to one of our welcome events, please make this priority and put a note in your diary. David and staff would love to meet you and share a little about the church. We invite you to collect an invitation from the welcome desk and to let the church office know if you are coming.

Jenga Uganda

Please help us fill a 40ft container for deprived communities in Uganda! JENGA C.D.O. is collecting items to send out in a container that will hugely bless hundreds of people! Specifically they want second hand clothes, scholastic items, toys, stationery (and much more) to distribute to the poorest of the poor in and around Mbale. There will be a collection day on Monday 26th September, so please bring your items with you to the services on Sunday 25th.   For details of what is being collected and the few simple guidelines to follow please collect an information sheet from the foyer. Thank you.

Recently upgraded your phone? If you have an old mobile phone lurking around that works fine butisn’t used Jenga could really use them in Uganda to give away to pastors and other people in need.  If you do have them please drop them off at the church office by September 12th labelled  FOR JENGA.  Thank you.

Car Parking

Complaints have been received recently about inconsiderate parking in the vicinity of the church during our Sunday services. Particular mentions have been made of an increasing incidence of cars parked on pavements and verges in Quickley Lane and Hillside Road. It is important for the church to demonstrate proper consideration for our neighbours at all times. Please refrain from parking on a nearby pavement or verge. In practice, given the narrowness of Quickley Lane in the vicinity of the church, this will mean parking further away in many cases. Thank you for your support.

Guest speakers

We will have two guest speakers at St Andrew’s in October 2010. These are the Revd Simon Ponsonby, Pastor of Theology at St Aldates Church, Oxford who will be speaking at the 6.30pm service on Sunday 10th October and the Venerable Jonathan Smith, Archdeacon of St Albans, who will be speaking at the 10.30am service on Sunday October 17th.

Diary Dates

There will be no 6.30pm services on the 19th and 26th September. Instead everyone one is encouraged to take part in the On Earth As In Heaven 2010 Churches Together Event, taking place at Restore Hope Latimer, from Sunday 18th to Sunday 26th September. Restore Hope Latimer are also hosting a Family Fun Day on Saturday 11th September, 12pm until 4pm which includes a BBQ and a wide range of activities (duck races, craft tent, kite making, egg throwing…) to which everyone is welcome. On Sunday 18th September there is “Messy Church” an event for under 12’s and “parents” from 3pm until 4.30pm. Further details for all these events can be found at : www.restorehopelatimer.org or see information booklet in the carousels.

Healing Today

As part of the On Earth As In Heaven event, David White will be leading an Evening Seminar on Thursday 16th September entitled “Healing Today”. This starts at 8pm and will be held in the marquee at Restore Hope Latimer.

Staff Notices

Judith Davies

Following an operation in early August, Judith Davies is currently recuperating at home. She will be off work until around the end of September. We praise the Lord that Judith’s operation was successful, that all tests proved clear and that she is now recovering well. Please pray for a continuing full and speedy recovery. During Judith’s absence, her responsibilities will be covered temporarily by other members of the office staff team.

Andy Hayball

After a long period of discernment, and seeking God’s call, Andy Hayball has decided that the time has come for him to step down from his post as Children's Pastor at St Andrew’s. Andy has developed our children’s ministry here in a truly wonderful way, particularly the spiritual growth of the children, and we are going to miss him very much. Andy’s last day with us will be Sunday 5th September, when we will be praying for him as a church family.

Alina Piotrowska, Rebekah Sutcliffe & Alastair Heath

We are delighted to announce the arrival at the start of September of Alina Piotrowska, Rebekah Sutcliffe and Alastair Heath, our three new interns.  Alina is joining our Children’s department whilst Rebekah and Alastair will be part of Con’s Youth team. Alina, Rebekah and Alastair will start on September 1st. They will be formally introduced to the congregation during our evening service on Sunday September 12th.  Please join us in welcoming Alina, Rebekah and Alastair. We pray that each of them may have a blessed and fruitful year within their respective ministries.
