News and Highlights from our MSCs
Friendship Club
Our vision is to share love and friendship with the elderly folk in Chorleywood. We meet every Tuesday and seek to practically demonstrate the love of Jesus and to provide a meeting place where people can develop new friendships, build community and simply be loved, as well as enjoy a hot two course meal! We have various activities throughout the year, including trips to garden centres, Christmas lunch, monthly communion services and 'Thought for the Day'.
We see God working through the helpers and drivers and, from the comments we receive, the members much appreciate the love and care shown to them. We are encouraged by the way the majority respond in the monthly communion service and some ask for prayer following the service.
Jenga
This month we are focusing our attention on JENGA, a Christian Community Development Organisation based in Mbale, Uganda.
Jenga’s mission is to improve the quality of life of the vulnerable and disadvantaged in the poorest of communities, demonstrating the love of God by love in action through word and deed. Jenga works in partnership with local churches and runs a wide variety of projects including: Street Children Ministry, Women’s work project, Bible clubs for children, Water projects, Community Health Programme, Youth Sports Ministry and Education Sponsorship. Jenga is also the largest Alpha partner in Uganda.
Several St Andrew's members have visited Jenga for short-term development or mission work. Currently Tiffany Vale volunteers full time for Jenga, although she is back in Chorleywood during August for a visit.
